Noooooo! I used to always buy it at one of the produce stores on Broadway. The one across from the Greek grocery store, next to Calhoun's, I'm pretty sure is where we used to get our produce in Van and we always bought Kohlrabi there. Good luck!

What sort of beans are you thinking of trying this with?

I may try this soup with another kind of bean-- using beer to replace the ham hock or bacon is a really good idea. Also, thanks for adding the "know what you're eating" at the end of posts-- this is really helpful!

I think the coldest day I biked it was -11 and lightly snowing. That was pretty much my threshold. I grew up in Vancouver where it pours rain all winter long and I biked year round in that. It's hard to say what I'd choose, +5 and pouring rain, or -15 and snowing? Probably the snow. It's way drier.

Anyways, tempeh! Love it! My go-to brand of tempeh in Vancouver had a plain and a multigrain option and they were both great. If you can't find plain then I guess choose a grain you're fond of and give that a go. Or buy a few to try - I'm a big fan of baked or fried seasoned tempeh in my sandwiches. a TLT? Or a Tempeh Reuben? Yum!

You have gone from badass to eternal badass in my book for not just enduring a Stockholm winter but BIKING in it. Saying it was -15 and dumping snow implies that if it were -10 and merely snowing, you're cool in the bike lane. OMG. I grew up in Louisiana and New Mexico. I shudder.

Anyway-- I am definitely giving this a try. You've turned me onto tofu already and now I'm eager to try tempeh. I looked in my WF this weekend and had the opposite problem of you-- there were too many choices. Does it matter if I use tempeh marked quinoa, brown rice, or anything else? I didn't see a plain tempeh. Thanks for the great idea!
